Overview

Mountain Brook Junior High offers a rich Fine Arts program for 7th through 9th graders, providing diverse opportunities in music, media, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing. Students can begin their musical journey in Beginning Band and progress to Concert Band, or join vocal ensembles like Treble Women’s Choir and Honor Choir, all requiring active participation in performances. Media Arts invites students to explore filmmaking, screenwriting, and storytelling, while Theatre courses offer acting, improvisation, and technical theatre experiences. Visual Arts classes develop foundational skills in drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture, complemented by art history and career insights. For aspiring writers, Creative Writing encourages producing fiction, poetry, and nonfiction with an emphasis on revision and community feedback. These programs foster creativity, skill development, and teamwork, enriching students’ artistic growth throughout their middle school years.
